SINOPSIS
A Family is written
by Guy de Maupassant is one of the best short stories I have ever read before .
In my opinion, this story is kind of fascinating, a lovely story and very slow.
It is because the story most telling the readers about travelled ,and a
friendship between two friends, Simon Radevin and George. These two people are
close and intimate friends for many years but they are separated after Simon
decides to get married with a girl from the provinces which come to Paris in
search of a husband. I feel anger and upset to see a broken friendship just
because of a marriage and just for one women. I think Simon and George should
still connect to each other even though Simon is now married. However, I am
anxious to know that they are meeting and getting back together after 15 years.
Furthermore, I am impressed by the new life of Simon, where he is already
changed a lot by having a loyal wife and so many children. Simon is also
getting fatter and gaining some weight after his marriage. Plus, I notice about
the family’s dinner, where all the family members and George too, enjoy the
delicious dinner together but in all of sudden, a terrible and frightening
incident occurred. I never thought that Simon’s attitude has changed after he
is getting married and after receving a son. I hate and crap about the
character simon. Simon is being bad and cruel to his father in law with not
giving him the food that he wants. I do not really understand why Simon is acting
so strange towards his old and incapable father in law.Simon seems to have no
common sense of the elderly. This part of this story makes me feel angry and
disappointed also sad because of about how a young man should treat the
elders. However I love one of the phrase in the story which is “He had one
single wish left, one sole pleasure, why not grant him that last solace until
he died?”I have my own reason about this phrase that is I think that
those who are healthy and should be able to fulfill the desire of those who are
sick especially one of part of our family members. Perhaps, by doing that, at
least we can make the person feels happy and appreciate. Lastly, I would like
to change the closing of this story with George advising Simon to treat his father
in law more better and very nicely, so all the family can live their life with
blessings and happiness . Overall i think this short story is great for
everyone and make it as a lesson and do not be like Simon Radevin who does not
have sense and the creator of this story managed to make me hate Simon Radevin.
